Despite initial speculation, it has been confirmed that the Monster Community has a lost one of its very own. Jamey, a 14-year-old Monster from Buffalo, New York, took his life a couple of days ago, because he could “no longer deal with the incessant bullying he faced on a daily basis.” Selflessly enough, although Jamey didn’t feel like things would get better for him personally, he made an “It Gets Better” video in hopes of helping others in need, which only proves what an amazing young boy he was. It is incredibly unfortunate that this happened, and it is unfortunate that Jamey was yet another victim of this, what seems to be, growing trend of suicides caused by bullying. Jamey is proof that depressed teenagers can put up a front and can fool you into thinking that they’re happy when they’re actually “dying” on the inside, and we are posting this in hopes that a few of you are touched enough by his story to reach out to those who you feel might need someone. It is imperative that we reach out to our siblings and peers, because we truly do not know who needs us and who doesn’t. Being open and willing to talk to those in need can literally save someone’s life.
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and although things may seem bleak, life does get better and you deserve to be around to witness it. Reach into your soul and find a reason to live. Know that you are loved, that you are wanted on this Earth, and most importantly, that you are not alone.
